“The bosses are epic, each with its own unique attacks, looks, and puzzles.” Thankfully, the game provided a satisfying conclusion. It was unfortunate to only get a brief narration of what was happening as I was interested in the story that was set up for my character, but not much was delivered after those few minutes of playing. Once you boot up, Praey for the Gods delivers some exposition that this world is frozen over, and while people have failed to perform the ritual to save it, your nameless heroine attempts to bring out the sun and warm up this uninviting land. It was not on my radar at that time, so instead, I got to enjoy a surprisingly heroic adventure game that reminded me of one of my favorite PS2 classics. After years of development, Praey has finally arrived. No Matter Studios is a three-person team of game development veterans who had been making Praey for the Gods, an open-world survival twist on the same boss climbing fighter as Shadow. The strange spelling of the title was forced on the creators by Bethesda, which before the premiere of Prey banned the use of the word "prey" in the title of the game by the No Matter studio.DecemPlayStation’s Shadow of the Colossus broke ground in 2005 and again with its 2018 remake. In combination with the prevailing climate in the game world, which translates, among other things, into severely limited visibility, the developers, however, managed to give the gameplay a specific atmosphere and unique character, somewhat similar to the original over a decade ago. The game was created based on Unity Engine 5, and its graphic design stands at an average level. The basis of the gameplay is the story campaign. In Praey for the Gods we can play only alone. From found objects and resources we can create new things - a crafting system has been implemented here (it's worth noting that this mechanic is also used to deal with challenges thrown by the land itself - survival elements can be found in the production). We should also pay attention to caves and underwater complexes, where we often find useful equipment. Exploration plays an important role - if we get to the top of the mountain, we can soar to places previously inaccessible. It is worth noting that Prey for the Gods is a non-linear game - the player decides where to go and which monster to face. The fight with them requires not only a lot of ingenuity and perceptiveness, thanks to which we discover the weak points of each of the colossi, but also often breakneck climbing over the monsters' bodies to deliver a knockout blow. Just like in Shadow of the Colossus, the core of the gameplay here are duels with powerful opponents, who are many times bigger than our heroine. Prey for the Gods is an action adventure game in which we explore the frozen world (we look at it from behind the protagonist's back - from the so-called TPP view). This task, however, will be made difficult by the extremely harsh climate of the island and the fact that our protagonist was forced to travel with only her own clothes. It turns out that powerful gods in which she once believed are behind the whole situation, and the only chance to restore balance in the world is to face them. We play as a lone female protagonist, sent on a dangerous mission to investigate the causes of the never-ending winter, which has almost completely paralyzed life so far. The game is set on a vast, ice-covered island, somewhere on the edge of dying world. The title is a debut work of a small, three-person studio No Matter from San Francisco. Praey for the Gods (originally Prey for the Gods) is a third-person action game with survival elements, being a spiritual heir of one of the most cult productions from the PlayStation 2 console, i.e.
